According to The Bribery Act, employers are responsible for whistleblowing. This compliance is further reinforced by the Capital Markets Authority – Code of Corporate Governance for Issuers of Securities to the Public, 2015.
As such, organizations should create an open, transparent and safe working environment where workers feel able to speak up against bribery, corruption and other crimes at the workplace.
A whistleblowing policy and system shows an employer’s commitment to listen to the concerns of workers and demonstrates they welcome information being brought to the attention of management.
It creates an open and supportive culture, the worker may not feel comfortable making a disclosure, for fear of the consequences. This makes it unnecessary for staff to alert anyone externally, which can have serious ramifications and attract negative publicity.
Seekory assesses an organization’s existing practices to determine whether they are standard. We then develop a tailored whistleblowing policy and provide safe, efficient whistleblowing channels and platforms for staff.
The implementation is followed by awareness training and surveys to understand how the policy and the channels have been received.
